Baking may seem intimidating but anyone who is passionate enough to try is one step closer to sweet success!
That’s exactly what I felt when I first picked up a whisk and glanced at a recipe. I’ve had my fair share of burnt brownies and cracked cheesecakes but over the last few years, through trial and error, I’ve come up with plenty of tips and tricks to help make even the most tedious tasks a little easier.
So let me dust off some of this flour from my hair so I can introduce myself!
How It All Began
My name is Fainna and I’m here with my amazing husband, Denis, who is the mastermind behind this website. In our relationship, I’m the baker and he’s the taster so everything you find in our little Baking Nook will be foolproof thanks to him!
I’ve been in the kitchen baking since the ripe ol’ age of 10 when I decided to bake a Strawberry Shortcake for my mom on Mother’s Day. Sure, it wasn’t the prettiest thing in the world. It looked more like melted whipped cream meets overcooked cake BUT she still appreciated it which encouraged me to fix the gaps in my baking!
Getting involved in the kitchen has drawn me closer to my mother and my grandmother who I consider saints in the kitchen. There’s something about grandma’s baking that makes you feel as if you stepped foot into heaven.
Not Just A Baker…
When I’m not in the kitchen cleaning up the sugar I spilled over, I’m sitting in my biotechnology lab studying principles in genetics to help prevent (or even cure) diseases in the future. When I’m in the lab, I almost feel like I’m in the kitchen. All the chemicals and beakers, it’s as if I’m baking a cake there, but with less-pleasant smelling substances.

Baking is a hobby as well as a serious passion of mine that I’ve had for almost 14 years now. This gave me a lot of time to perfect recipes, develop hacks and tips that might not seem like a big deal but make a major difference.
